These stationary buffer stops have less strength as compared to the sliding buffer stops, as they are restricted by the length of the hydraulic/mechanical device. Wheel stops are used in maintenance facility and to prevent rail ends from the damage.
Wheel stops are used for small rail vehicles that operate at a slow speed. Folding buffer stops prevent from shunting accidents. Special buffer stops are customized according to the rail vehicles, which include mountain railway, light narrow gauge heritage railways, etc.
